Kinesio taping in Ukraine, Lviv

Kinesio taping is a modern rehabilitation method when special plasters (Kinesio tapes) are applied.

Kinesio tape is an elastic adhesive cotton tape covered with hypoallergenic acrylic glue that can pass water and air. Tape’s thickness and ability to stretch resemble properties of the skin.

Kinesio tape does not restrict movements and facilitates self-healing of the human body because it affects the skin and subcutaneous tissue and improves local blood and lymph flow.

Contraindications to the use of Kinesio tapes:

  • Exacerbation of skin disorders
  • Malignant tumors
  • Deep vascular thrombosis
  • Allergic skin reactions
  • Severe cardiovascular failure

Kinesio taping and selection of the proper application technique are carried out by a certified physical therapist, considering the individual biomechanical, anatomical, and physiological characteristics of each client/patient.

The duration of application of the Kinesio tape on the skin lasts for 3-5 days, but if more than 50% of Kinesio tape loses contact with the skin, it should be removed.

Kinesio taping is included in the list of additional treatment measures; that’s why the determination of the feasibility of Kinesio taping is carried out jointly by a medical doctor and a physical therapist, taking into account the individual functional abilities of each client/patient.
